Hello mitrano,

Cool pics! :good:
I can show you many hundreds of late war pics on which not a single Marine is wearing a single piece of camo clothing.
You posted two, and the first one shows not even regular Marines but "Recon Boys" from the independent and specialized "Marine Amphibious Reconnaissance Battalion"
if i remember correctly. I am quite sure that the second pic does so as well. Those where trained and equipped differently to regular Marines. It is like showing pics of lets
say 5th Rangers to demonstrate what members of the 1st ID wore .

I never wrote P42 was not used after 1943, i wrote wearing a full set was rare in the later stages of WW2.

Of course there is always this "one odd" picture of unusual gear. There is a photo showing litter bearers in camouflage on Iwo Jima for example.
Still this does not change the fact that the vast(!) majority did not wear camo by this time. It all comes down to what you want to portray.
The super duper exception or the norm. You can have fun playing airsoft doing both

Ps. There was/is still some debate whether the pics you posted (there are more from this series) are dated correctly.
If you want to read some more about the "Marine Amphibious Reconnaissance Battalion" I recommend the book "US Special Warfare Units in the Pacific Theater 1941-45".

Cheers

Having got my new breeches I thought I'd put some of my Russian gear together.

Looks good. Is that really an m35 tunic you're wearing or have you disquised a pocketed M43 with the plasch (nice idea if so)? Is that a two pronged officer type belt with sam browne you're wearing?

Yes its an M35 tunic, bought from Koliya . And yes a sam browne, OK for ranks down to sergeant (or soviet equivalent) I believe.

Heh, for the belt almost any old leather belt will do and would be better than the sam browne... plus I do make a repro of a leather ruskie belt myself. :)

Might treat myself after my birthday then :)

Its a Czech Sam Browne, in case its not clear on the photo, not a British one.

Thanks for the advice! :good:
Hadn't thought about the medpack. Indeed, they did not have much back then when they went to Bastogne. But... can the same be said about the 82nd? They were not cut off and had safe supply lines

Well, an army, a soldier and even a police has a heavy duty for their country. However, they must have always a medical kit that could bring in everywhere they go. In case of medical emergency they something for treatment of their self.

Pics will be included without the trollface once i get all my stuff and I can take a photo outside with my gun. In these pictures I look like such a derp I decided to spare myself the pain and just cover my face.

Very nice pics Glenlivet45, the kit looks excellent and suitably battleworn....
